The presenter returned to the Loose Women panel for the first time since her brother's death to raise awareness about male suicide
June Sarpong broke down in tears on Loose Women as she discussed the tragic circumstances of her brother's suicide.
An emotional June returned to the ITV show for the first time since her sibling Sam Sarpong jumped off Colorado Street bridge in Pasadena, Los Angeles, in October.
Today, the presenter bravely opened up about the circumstances surrounding her brother's death, saying he had spent seven hours on the bridge before jumping off - and revealed her father was prevented from talking him down, a regret the family will live with forever.
She said: "On the day it happened something just took over his mind. The Sammy we knew was not that man who jumped off the bridge. Something took over his mind and it just happened."
June explained that since the tragic incident, she discovered that US police forces had not allowed her father near her brother during the several hours he was stood on the bridge.
Asked by panelist Jane Moore why her family was not allowed near her brother during his last moments, she said: "In America legally [the police] don’t. They don’t know the reason why they were there and don’t want to be sued."
Jane, along with Andrea McLean were surprised when June said added what she was told by the police after his death: "They said he was completely hallucinating. He was not there. He was not in charge of his faculties."
