South Africa Date Beckons For Flamingoes

Bala Nikyu's ladies will contend with South Africa U17 women side in the final qualifying phase if they get past the Baby Gladiators with Zambia pulling out

Nigeria U17 women national team will face South Africa U17 women in the final qualifying round to the Fifa U17 Women's Women Cup in Jordan should they overcome Namibia on aggregate.

President of South Africa Football Association, Danny Jordan confirmed that his side walked over the Zambia who pulled out for some undisclosed reasons.

"We were informed that Zambia, who were supposed to play U17 women's team, have withdrawn from the qualification for the U17 World Cup," Jordan told Kickoff.

"Our (South Africa) team is now throught to the final round of the U17 Women's World Cup qualifiers becuase of this," he said.

Local sources report that the withdrawal of Zamibia was due to various problems in the country, especially financial issues.

In 2013, Zambia defeated South Africa 6-4 on aggregate and made their debut appearance at the Fifa U17 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica.

However, the Flamingoes who recorded a clinical 4-0 victory against Namibia in the first leg, would hope to confirm their progress in the reverse fixture billed for Windhoek on January 24.

Winner between Nigeria and Namibia will now take on South Africa in bid for a place in Jordan scheduled to hold from 30 September to October 21, 2016.

Three finalists in the qualifying tournament will represent Africa at the 2016 Fifa U17 Women's World Cup in Jordan.
