Arsenal wants £42m Dortmund star, Aubameyang

ARSENAL are reportedly working toward securing a sensational £42 million January move for Borussia Dortmund star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Gunners are going strong this season and sit two points clear at the summit of the Premier League after winning five of their last six matches.
With the sublime Mesut Ozil in top form and the often underrated Olivier Giroud performing well, not to mention the presence of world-class forward Alexis Sanchez, Arsenal aren’t especially lacking firepower compared to rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old is a clinical front man who could really take them to the next level and snapping him up in January would put them firmly in the driving seat in the open and unpredictable title race.
The Gabon international has netted a staggering 27 times this season in as many appearances, as well as adding six assists. His stunning form has seen him surpass the numbers boasted by Europe’s other top talents, per Bundesliga expert Clark Whitney:
Aubameyang possesses electric pace and a killer finish—something that would particularly come in handy when the Gunners take on Barcelona in the Champions League.
Football writer Stefan Bienkowski believes Aubameyang is capable of scoring even when suffering a lack of form and believes he has developed incredibly well at the Westfalenstadion:
Dortmund will undoubtedly not want to part with such a key player, particularly in January, but if Arsenal are to offer the reported fee there’s a reasonable chance they could pry him away.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has urged fans to manage their expectations, though, and offered a reminder that their injured players are due to return for the business end of the season. Per talkSPORT, he said:
One player seemingly on the verge of making a switch to the Emirates Stadium is Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny, as according to the Mail (h/t Jack Wilson of the Daily Star) he has completed a medical and will imminently make a £5 million move to Arsenal pending international clearance.
