Bordeaux boss Willy Sagnol has revealed that
Newcastle United have reached an agreement to sign Henri Saivet.
The 25-year-old midfielder is currently in Newcastle for a medical and contract talks, while the fee is believed to be in the region of €6 million [£4.4m].
McClaren confirmed that Henri Saviet is on Tyneside having a medical and discussing terms. "We are just waiting for the outcome."
Saivet will be Newcastle’s first signing of the January transfer window, although the club have also bene linked with a £12m move for Swansea City midfielder Jonjo Shelvey.
"Henri wanted to leave, he needed a new challenge,” Sagnol said on Monday. “I gave my approval for this transfer."
