Flamingoes Are Not Super, Says Namibia Coach Mervin MBAKERA

The Baby Gladiators's coach has promised that his team would make sure they edge past the Flamingoes in the 2016 Fifa U17 Women’s World Cup qualifier return leg

Namibia’s head coach Mervin Mbakera has declared that Nigeria U17 Women team are in for a tough time when they visit Windhoek in a fortnight.

Rasheedat Ajibade’s brace and a goal each from Cynthia Aku and Peace ensured that theFlamigoes eased past the Baby Gladiator’s in the Fifa U17 Women’s World Cup second round, first leg encounter played in Abuja on Saturday leaving coach Mbakera’s girls on the brink of elimination.

But the handler of the southern African side who applauded his team’s outing against Bala Nkiyu’s side, boasted that his girls would correct their mistakes going into the return leg in Windhoek.

“I will praise my team because they fought well, even though their efforts could not yield them a good result. But, we will not lose our second leg game,” said after the game.

“We have seen our mistakes, and we will go back home to correct them and prevent the Flamingos from beating us in the second leg. The Nigerian team is not super.

“The goals we conceded were due to minor mistake caused by my players.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria U17 coach Nkiyu feels his girls still have a long way to go despite their high scoring margin and would not sit back in the second leg.

“We have been working hard to have this kind of result. We have a long way to go, and we will fight harder to will all our games.

“We will surely take part in the World Cup, by God’s grace,’’ he said.

Winner of this round on aggregate will face either South Africa or Zambia in the last round of qualifiers for a ticket to Jordan 2016.
