The U17 star told media on Thursday that he would be signing for the German side as his future continues to come under scrutiny
Victor Osimhen dropped the hint that he would be joining German club Wolfsburg on Thursday, moments after he was named Youth Player of the Year at the Caf Awards in Abuja.
The youngster, who won the Fifa U17 World Cup in 2015 as well as the golden boot while breaking the tournament’s scoring record with 10 goals, has been linked with various sides including Arsenal.
It seems the 16-year-old Ultimate Strikers player has made up his mind and would be going to the Bundesliga where he hopes to develop into a credible senior talent.
“I have visited the team in Wolfsburg and with the promises the coach made to me when I visited the arena, I think Wolfsburg is my destination,” Osimhen told media.
Asked whether the Bundesliga side is a temporary stop before moving to bigger teams in England or Spain, he said: “I’m going to stay at Wolfsburg for as long as the team can keep me.”
Osimhen was named second most valuable player at the Fifa U17 World Cup behind team mate Kelechi Nwakali.
He was called up to the Nigeria U23 side that won the U23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal last month and is poised to be part of the Olympics-bound squad.
